Fujitsu General Australia and Essendon Football Club (the Bombers) have announced Tullamarine Sporting Club as the winner of the AU$10,000 giveaway for local community football clubs, in celebration of the organisations’ 10-year partnership.
Tullamarine Sporting Club received a novelty cheque for AU$10,000 from Essendon players Zach Merrett, Andy McGrath, Sam Draper, Bonnie Toogood, and Stephanie Cain at a special event held on August 6 at Leo Dineen Reserve, Tullamarine. The vibrant celebration was attended by key representatives from Fujitsu General Australia, Essendon Football Club, and enthusiastic members of the Tullamarine Sporting Club community. The announcement was followed by an engaging session where Essendon players participated in training drills with the club’s young athletes, creating an inspiring and memorable experience for all involved while reinforcing the strong community ties fostered by Fujitsu General and Essendon Football Club.
Philip Perham, managing director, Fujitsu General Australia, said, “Fujitsu General Australia is delighted to present this award to Tullamarine Sporting Club in conjunction with the Bombers. Tullamarine Sporting Club’s win is a testament to their resilience, determination, community spirit, and dedication to nurturing young talent. This funding will aid Tullamarine Sporting Club in rebuilding its changerooms, which have been sorely missed over the past two years. This funding will go a long way in helping the club sustain the local football community and support its young champions.”
The giveaway competition celebrates Fujitsu general Australia’s decade-long partnership with the Essendon Football Club. It highlights the dedication and passion of local clubs and their contributions to the sport, including the essential role local clubs play in fostering grassroots talent and enhancing community spirit. Clubs were invited to participate by completing a form and explaining in 25 words or less why their club deserved the prize.
Tullamarine Sporting Club secured its win for its submission describing the significant challenges the club faced over the past two years, including the absence of proper clubrooms, which had severely impacted their operations and the morale of their members. The $10,000 prize will provide much-needed financial assistance to rebuild these facilities, ensuring the club can continue to serve its community and support the development of young athletes.
Fujitsu General Australia has significantly contributed to the Essendon Football Club's growth and success through a variety of campaigns and fan engagement activities since becoming a co-major partner in 2013. Fujitsu General Australia’s active involvement with the Essendon network, including support for events like the Football Woman of the Year Award, illustrates its role in the club’s achievements. Together, Fujitsu General Australia and the Essendon Bombers remain dedicated to nurturing grassroots, community, and women's football, and are excited to continue making a positive impact on the football community for years to come.
