On Friday 9 September 2016, Australia’s favourite air, Fujitsu General, celebrated the end of NRL South Sydney Football Club’s season with a social day filled with football inspired activities.
The afternoon was a fundraiser for Fujitsu’s charity of choice, The Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation, which is a not for profit organisation committed to helping children in palliative care.
Dave Smith, general manager - sales and marketing, Fujitsu General, commented: “The South Sydney Rabbitohs is one of the most popular NRL teams. The partnership Fujitsu has with the Rabbitohs has enabled the organisation to foster stronger connections with the sporting community. Fujitsu staff and customers have enjoyed meeting the team throughout the year, and the fun day was a great way to wrap up the footy season.”
For a gold coin donation, Fujitsu staff participated in a series of challenges led by Rabbitohs’ players - including pass, kick and catch the ball - as well as a best dressed competition, raffle tickets and a barbeque for all to enjoy.
The Sporting Chance Foundation has programs allowing palliative care children to spend as much time at home as possible by providing remote access to specialised nurse care and resources such as mobile home care units.
For each Fujitsu air conditioner sold, a donation is made to the Foundation. Through these contributions and various ongoing fundraising drives, Fujitsu General has to date donated in excess of six million dollars to the charity.
The event was held at the air conditioning manufacturer’s head office in Eastern Creek, New South Wales, and ended with the Rabbitohs enjoying a behind the scenes tour.
